What is Female Infertility?
Female infertility refers to a woman's inability to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term despite having regular, unprotected sexual intercourse for a year or more. It is a common concern affecting many women worldwide. Several factors, including hormonal imbalances, irregular ovulation, fallopian tube blockages, uterine abnormalities, and lifestyle factors, can contribute to female infertility. Infertility is not just a single condition but a result of multiple underlying causes that require proper evaluation and treatment. Studies show that one-third of infertility cases are due to female factors, one-third to male factors, and one-third to a combination of both or unknown reasons. When infertility originates from the female partner, it is termed "female factor infertility."
